1000 STORIES TO TELL

When respect prevails and the driving force is to have a positive impact on people and the environment, the stories to tell are endless…. (Carolina Chanton)

WE DON’T JUST OFFER A PRODUCT – WE SHARE A CULTURE

We take the best from each culture, and that has meant a lot of hard work and a clear vision of what we want. We share lessons, stories and positive aspects that belong to each region. Our employees in Ecuador take any feedback our customers give us with a lot of positivity. They learn to be very punctual and to look for immediate solutions to meet the demands that may arise and, above all, they learn to be more precise – clearly very positive aspects that we emphasize about the Swiss culture.

In the same way we share our Ecuadorian culture, people full of dreams and inquisitive, people who work hard to deliver a flower of excellent quality.

Where do our roses come from and what makes them so special? Our range of roses with over 400 varieties comes exclusively from small fincas in Ecuador. Our roses grow there in the Andes at over 2700 – 3100 meters under natural climatic conditions. The growing conditions ensure that our roses grow more slowly and therefore have a particularly long shelf life. The well-being of our employees is also very important to us. We attach great importance to fair conditions and appropriate working conditions. Within 48 hours, we can deliver the roses cut exclusively to order to the B2B trade in Switzerland. The Engagement that we associate with this allows us to support many families in Ecuador and have a positive impact on the local rose trade.

PROYECTO ECO – AMIGABLE

In 2004, Fashion Flower started importing flowers from Ecuador; we always had the vision to be part of a positive change…of course!!.of the change of mentality among flower producers. We knew that it was not an easy task to introduce a different system to the traditional one. Many years have passed and many more will pass, but we have the advantage of supporting our farms on a daily basis in the implementation of methods and techniques that respect the environment and people.

This is where the need arises to develop our concept of “eco-amigable”, i.e. environmentally friendly production, which is becoming increasingly important in our daily lives.

Green production is a strategy that combines best environmental practices in production processes and focuses on reducing risks to people and the environment. It also requires the application of standards that regulate each production unit. Greener production definitely improves process efficiency and product quality.

Together with our strategic partners, we are dedicated to the research and development of products based on surfactants and biodegradable active ingredients using environmentally friendly raw materials such as essential oils of neem, peppermint, chamomile, limonene and others.

These products act as natural repellents and insecticides which, together with the action of potassium detergents, anionic and non-ionic surfactants and other wetting agents, improve their properties in the control of insects, mites and fungi.
We also use colloidal product technologies such as silicon, silver or copper, which, due to their high activity, are used in very low concentrations of the order of parts per million (ppm).

This gives growers alternatives to our developments that are more protective, preventive and nourishing coadjuvants so that plants are better nourished and healthy to resist the attack of pests and diseases.

Sustainability concept

The principles of this new concept, which Fashion Flower has implemented, are based on three fundamental axes:

  1. the protection and nurturing of human capabilities, which with this new concept become the most important asset in the value chain;

  2. The treatment of the soil and its plants must respect the life and natural fertility of the soil;
    We can cite the importance of using bocashi (plant material, rose stems and cattle or chicken manure decomposed under controlled temperature conditions).
    As well as the use of compost (decomposed vegetable matter with activated microorganisms).

  3. The prevention of damage must be based mainly on natural methods, for which a limited number of products approved by the control authorities in Ecuador may be used;
    At this point, we would like to share our experience with integrated pest and disease control, where we have achieved very interesting results: By using plant extracts and microorganisms, we have managed to reduce chemical control to just 40% of the recommended commercial doses.

So how can we promote these products? The answer is quite simple: we close the circle by engaging in fair and environmentally friendly trade with companies that pursue the same concept as we do.

The safety of our employees and the people who receive our products is our priority.
