Cut flowers from the Andes have always formed an advantage over the flowers from the greenhouses of Europe because of the gentle and environmentally friendly cultivation.
In cooperation with the myclimate foundation we have created the exact calculation of the transport distances of our cut flowers and would now like to take a further step in the topic of sustainability together with you.
The calculation for climate-neutral transportation not only takes CO2 into account, but also other factors:
- The multiplication factor for climate-relevant "non-CO2 emissions".
- The WTW value, which takes into account the production of the fuel
- A conservative emission factor for "belly freight", i.e. freight that flies in the belly of a passenger aircraft.
In this way, we not only achieve certification as CO2-compensated transport, but also as much more climate-neutral transport.
We would offset the emissions through a reforestation project in Nicaragua.
For a surcharge of 3% on the sales price (approx. 5 centimes per cut flower), they will cover half of the costs for climate-neutral transportation. Fashion Flower will contribute the other half.
